Security Officer

Job Overview

We are hiring a dependable and observant Security Officer to help protect our property, employees, guests, and equipment. This position focuses on preventing security issues through routine patrols, video monitoring, access management, and timely incident response.

The ideal candidate remains calm under pressure, communicates professionally, and follows established safety procedures. This role requires a balance of strong security awareness and courteous service when interacting with employees, visitors, vendors, and emergency personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and other surveillance equipment for unusual behavior, safety concerns, or unauthorized activity.
• Patrol indoor and outdoor areas regularly to identify hazards, unsecured entrances, property damage, and potential security violations.
• Manage entry points by confirming identification, credentials, and authorization for employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
• Respond quickly to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, accidents, and other incidents according to established procedures.
• Prepare accurate, thorough reports detailing incidents, observations, actions taken, and relevant follow-up information.
• Assist with employee or vendor screening and background-verification procedures when assigned.
• Use conflict-resolution and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations safely and professionally.
• Operate approved security and emergency-response equipment in accordance with training, company policy, and applicable law.
• Administer CPR, first aid, or AED support when qualified and required.
• Perform physical duties such as extended walking, standing, lifting, and moving security equipment.
• Coordinate with police, fire, emergency medical personnel, or other public-safety agencies during incidents and investigations.
• Follow all company policies, security standards, and legal requirements while protecting confidential information.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience in security, public safety, military service, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong observational skills and the ability to monitor live surveillance feeds effectively.
• Working knowledge of patrol procedures, access-control practices, emergency protocols, and physical-security principles.
• Ability to remain composed, make sound decisions, and act promptly during stressful situations.
• Professional communication and customer-service skills when assisting employees, guests, and members of the public.
• Experience with conflict de-escalation and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
• Clear and accurate written communication skills for logs and incident documentation.
• CPR, first aid, and AED certification are preferred or may be required based on the assignment.
• Appropriate licensing or certification for approved security equipment may be required where applicable.
• Ability to perform the physical responsibilities of the position, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
• Dependable attendance, sound judgment, integrity, and respect for confidentiality.

Pay: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 32.0 per week
