Location: Ottawa and surrounding areas, Ontario
Pay: $18.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experience and assignment
Employment: Full-time or part-time
Schedule: Flexible rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays

Position Summary

A Signal Security Officer provides dedicated security services at an assigned client location. The officer protects people and property by monitoring access points, conducting foot patrols, observing site conditions and responding professionally to incidents.

Assignments may involve offices, residential communities, commercial properties, courtyards, parking areas and other high-value locations. Officers must follow the post orders established for each site.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional security services in accordance with site post orders.
• Conduct scheduled indoor and outdoor foot patrols.
• Monitor entrances, exits and other designated access points.
• Observe and report safety hazards, suspicious activity, property damage and unauthorized access.
• Complete accurate daily activity and incident reports using company-approved technology.
• Respond to alarms, complaints and incidents within the officer’s training and authority.
• Use calm, professional communication to help de-escalate conflicts.
• Provide respectful customer service to clients, residents, employees, contractors and visitors.
• Promptly report urgent concerns to the supervisor or appropriate emergency service.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect client information.
• Care for assigned uniforms, radios, keys, access cards and mobile devices.
• Arrive on time, complete proper shift handovers and comply with appearance standards.
• Perform additional site-specific duties contained in approved post orders.

Requirements

• Valid Ontario Security Guard licence.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Strong observation, organization and communication skills.
• Ability to prepare clear, factual and accurate written reports.
• Professional conduct and a strong commitment to customer service.
• Ability to use mobile applications and web-based reporting systems.
• Reliable transportation to the assigned work location.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to conduct indoor and outdoor patrols in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift or move equipment weighing up to approximately 9 kg/20 lb.
• Ability to complete required company and site training.
• Satisfactory employment and legally permitted background screening relevant to the position.

Previous security experience and First Aid/CPR certification are assets.
