Job Description

Pouring with Heart is currently looking for a professional, and hospitable Security Host at Seven Grand, San Diego. We are excited to find a new family member. Below is a description of the role, give it a read-through, and if you think “Hell yeah!”, we’d love to start a conversation.

The role…

As a Security Host, you are responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment for both guests and staff. You represent the first and last impression of the bar, balancing professionalism and hospitality with the awareness and confidence needed to maintain order.

About the Bar…

For nearly 15 years, Seven Grand has been a staple of North Park, built around whiskey, cocktails, music, and hospitality. Our team works across a dynamic environment, from guiding guests through an extensive whiskey collection to keeping pace with high-volume nights and the energy of Blind Spot, our backroom bar focused on all spirits, cocktails, and late-night dancing. We’re looking for someone who wants to deepen their spirit knowledge, thrive in a fast-moving room, and understand how to balance personality, education, and genuine hospitality.

The Pay

$27 to $30 an hour ($23 to $25 an hour base pay + tips)

Duties include, but are not limited to…

Greet guests warmly and set the tone for a safe, welcoming environment

Verify IDs accurately and manage guest entry in line with venue policies

Monitor the floor and bar areas for safety concerns, escalating issues when necessary

Support staff and guests through conflict resolution and clear communication

Use de-escalation techniques to manage situations calmly and respectfully

Assist with crowd flow, line management, and capacity control during peak hours

Report incidents, hazards, or policy violations to leadership promptly

Follow all health, safety, and compliance standards, including responsible alcohol service and emergency procedures

Required Skills/Qualifications

3+ years prior security, guest services, or hospitality experience preferred

Strong situational awareness, confidence, and professionalism under pressure

Ability to de-escalate conflicts with patience, respect, and clear communication

Must be 21+ and have valid security guard certifications if required (varies by state)

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods (up to 8 hours)

Ability to lift and move 100+ pounds

Fast-paced movements and mobility required to cover bar and floor space efficiently

Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions as part of daily bar operations
