Job Summary:
A Security Dog Handler is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff of residential buildings or communities. This includes managing the guard monitoring check point system, conducting regular pro-active patrols, responding to incidents, and enforcing property rules to ensure safety and prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorised access.
Safe handling and introduction of the dog into community areas is paramount, and it is only used as a deterrent
Key Responsibilities:
– Dogs’ training needs: NASDU GP Level 2, including Teams certificate with your own dog. This includes participating in ongoing training and maintaining welfare & training records
– Patrol Duties: Regularly patrol the streets, parking areas, grounds, and surrounding areas to deter criminal activity and ensure safety
– Awareness: Be aware of all movements and be constantly vigilant of activities that might require intervention
– Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies, including fires, medical incidents, and break-ins. Report incidents to the appropriate authorities when necessary
– Incident Reporting: Maintain detailed logs of security incidents, accidents, and irregularities, and report these to management or law enforcement as required
– Resident Interaction: Aid residents, answer questions, and offer general guidance or directions while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanour
– Enforce Rules and Regulations: Ensure that residents and visitors comply with the community’s rules and regulations, including noise levels, parking regulations, and other property-specific policies
– Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety checks to identify potential hazards or vulnerabilities and address or report them as needed
– Collaboration with Local Authorities: Collaborate with law enforcement / emergency response teams / other security personnel and management to handle incidents that require outside intervention
– Security pack: Regular check stock levels of all paperwork and marketing materials
Working Conditions:
– Work hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays
– Shift pattern – 5 on / 3 off
– Imperative to work outdoors and/or in varying weather conditions
– There is an element of admin required that represents around 25% on time on shifts
– This is an active role where foot patrols (80%) are prioritised over mobile patrols (20%)
This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety and peace of mind of residents in a community, creating a secure and welcoming environment.
