Job Description

Job Purpose

The purpose is to develop and maintain a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and property.

Job Overview

A Corporate Security Guard is in charge of safeguarding the safety and security of commercial property and its visitors. Your responsibilities will include interacting with employees at your company and ensuring that visitors enter the building using the proper process. You will need a positive attitude toward people and challenges.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible presence at the primary entrance and monitor persons entering and leaving.
  • Monitor the immediate approach to the entrance.
  • Verify employee badges if requested by the local site team and in accordance with the agreed site procedure.
  • Challenge or refer persons who do not appear to have valid authorisation.
  • Ensure visitors follow the site’s registration, identification and escort arrangements where applicable.
  • Remain alert to tailgating and politely challenge attempts to enter behind another authorised person.
  • Observe for unattended packages, objects of concern, concealed identity or unusual behaviour.
  • Report damage, obstruction, poor lighting or malfunctioning access/security equipment.
  • Immediately communicate relevant concerns to the Mobile Patrol Officer.
  • Escalate access concerns to site manager or the nominated site contact.
  • Do not leave the entrance/reception position unless appropriate security coverage has been arranged.
  • During internal patrols, the officer must check:

1. building entrances and exits
2. emergency exits
3. areas identified during the site briefing as vulnerable or requiring security attention
4. unauthorised persons or suspicious activity
5. unsecured doors, gates or windows
6. unattended bags, packages or other objects of concern
7. signs of forced entry or tampering
8. blocked emergency exits or access routes
9. any other security defect or concern identified during patrol

  • The current external patrol scope is expected to include:

1.main entrance and turnstile area
2.front building area and front car park
3.building perimeter
4.rear car park
5.rear access / vehicle barrier area
6.other agreed external areas

Requirements

  • A valid SIA licence – Door Supervisor Licence
  • Be always alert and vigilant to detect suspicious behaviour and activity
  • Be physically fit
  • Excellent concentration skills
  • Communicate clearly with team members and people

Pay: £13.45 per hour

Expected hours: 60.0 per week
