Job Description

Site: Residential Property (Part-time)

Location: Downtown Markham, ON (York Region)

Availability Required: Saturday & Sunday

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Training
Successful candidates would be expected to dedicate 2-3 weekdays outside of Saturday and Sunday, from 0700-1600hrs to allow for weekday training with a site supervisor, and uniform appointment within one week of receiving an offer of employment. Once the necessary appointments have been completed, the incumbent would be moved to their shift.

About Us:

Join our dynamic team at Wincon as an experienced Security Guard for one of our upscale condominiums located in the heart of Downtown Markham’s Cultural District. We are currently overseeing the management of a luxurious residential property that’s in the midst of prime living space.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for conducting patrols, managing front desk duties and maintaining the safety of the site, providing access control to tenants, service workers and service providers. You will also need to interface with property management and project managers.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Security Guard, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the safety and security of our residents, staff, and visitors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Patrolling: Conduct regular patrols of the site to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access. This includes checking fences, gates, and other entry points.
  • Security Monitoring: Monitor surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and other security equipment to detect and respond to suspicious activity or breaches.
  • Access Control: Manage access to the site by verifying credentials, and ensuring only authorized personnel enter the premises.
  • Incident Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, including theft, property damage, or safety hazards, and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  • Report Writing: Maintain detailed and accurate logs of daily activities, incidents, and irregularities, and report any issues to the relevant authorities or supervisors.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations such as fires, and medical emergencies, by following established site protocols and providing support as needed.
  • Customer Service: Provide assistance and information to visitors, contractors, and employees, and address any concerns or inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel on the site.
  • Cooperation with Authorities: Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency services, and other agencies as required to ensure the security and safety of the construction site.
  • Security Policies: Adhere to and enforce security policies and procedures established .

Additional Responsibilities:

In addition to the core responsibilities mentioned above, you will also be responsible for:

  • Documenting and investigating security incidents and complaints thoroughly.
  • Conducting both proactive and reactive security patrols.
  • Communicating any concerns or issues to the Security Supervisor and or Operations Manager.
  • Preparing daily site reports and documenting important information in shift briefs.
  • Communicating and liaising with tenants and building ownership.

Requirements:

  • Valid Security Guard License and Emergency First Aid certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in frontline customer service.
  • 1 year of concierge experience preferred.
  • Outstanding customer service skills with an outgoing and friendly personality.
  • Secondary school education (or equivalent); Post-Secondary education is an asset.
  • Security and Police Foundations Diploma is a plus.
  • Emergency management skills, including fire safety, de-escalation, use of force, and medical response.
  • Access to a personal vehicle is considered an asset.

Please note: Morning shifts require access to reliable transportation (vehicle) as York Region Transit (YRT) may not be operating during these hours.

Experience:

  • Security: 1 year (preferred)
  • Customer service: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Security Guard Licence (required)
  • CPR Certification (required)
