Overview
We are seeking a proactive and dependable Floater/On-Call Security Guard to join our dynamic team. This role offers flexibility to support various sites and shifts in the Toronto, North York and Scarborough areas, ensuring safety and security across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, vigilant, and ready to respond swiftly to any situation.

As a Floater Security Guard, you will:

• Cover shifts when permanent guards book off
• Step in temporarily if a permanent guard resigns
• Work across multiple sites as scheduled

Responsibilities

• Provide security coverage at different sites on an as-needed basis, ensuring safety and adherence to security protocols.
• Conduct routine patrols of premises, including buildings, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
• Monitor surveillance systems such as CCTV cameras to detect suspicious activity or security breaches.
• Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies, coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
• Manage access control by verifying credentials of visitors, contractors, and employees.
• Document incidents through detailed reports and maintain accurate logs of activities during shifts.
• Assist with conflict management and de-escalation to maintain a safe environment for all personnel.

Requirements

• Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military service, or related fields is preferred.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; candidates should be prepared to respond effectively in emergencies.
• Knowledge of surveillance tools such as CCTV systems and loss prevention techniques.
• Strong conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to work flexible hours as an on-call or float position requires adaptability.
• Excellent observational skills with attention to detail for conducting inspections and surveillance.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From $17.85 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 44 per week

• Toronto, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Security Guard Licence (preferred)
