Shift Lead – Full-Time

Approximately 75.0 Bi-weekly Hours

SHIFTS:
Days / Evenings / Nights
7.5 hours per shift (subject to change)

WAGE RANGE:
Scale Minimum Maximum
NONU04 $37.39/hr $45.32/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee shift and coordinate the workload within the department to ensure all components of the post orders and SOP meet customer-service best practices and established standards. Directing protection services staff on the shift through a documented checklist.
  • Review and document standard work to ensure continued alignment with best practices and the Hospital’s policies, while also providing support and education to staff on application queries as required. Report incidents and updates to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Provide first-line response to non-medical incidents, including violent disturbances, fire alarms, crimes in progress, hazardous materials calls, and crisis/emergencies, ensuring safety and employing appropriate restraint procedures when necessary.
  • Perform proactive security patrols of the hospital environment and grounds, maintain and monitor access control systems, and confirm the functionality of electronic security systems ensuring all duties are completed following prescribed practices, procedures and policies of the department and Hospital.
  • Direct protection services staff on the shift through a documented checklist.
  • Report incidents and updates to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Maintain data logs and reports, ensure the confidentiality of sensitive documents, monitor and manage parking equipment and transactions, and support emergency management leads during hospital-related emergencies.
  • Address and resolve patients’, staff’s, and visitors’ security or parking inquiries or concerns.
  • Create awareness around risks and required actions to avoid danger or injury.
  • Other duties as operationally required.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or equivalent certification
  • Two (2) Years of professional experience in security/police/corrections or military position
  • Valid Security Guard License issued by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services
  • CPR/Basic First Aid Certificate
PREFERRED:
  • Community College diploma in Law & Security Administration, or University BA in Criminology and Criminal Justice
  • Two (2) Years of professional experience in security within a healthcare environment
  • Use of Force Certification
  • Non-Violent Crime Intervention course
  • IMS 100
