Role Description

• This is a part-time, on-site role in Ottawa, ON for a Nightlife Security Team Member at GRIDWRKS.
• Security staff play a crucial role in maintaining the safe, welcoming, and controlled atmosphere that defines being at GRIDWRKS. Responsibilities include:
• Managing entry points, including ID verification, capacity control, and guest screening (bag checks/pat-downs)
• Maintaining strong crowd awareness on the dance floor and throughout the venue
• Proactively identifying and addressing over-intoxication, unsafe behaviour, or potential conflicts
• De-escalating situations professionally while preserving the venue’s atmosphere
• Enforcing venue policies, including consent culture, respect guidelines, and code of conduct
• Collaborating closely with bar staff, promoters, and management to ensure smooth event operations
• Responding effectively to incidents and emergencies while maintaining composure
• Security at GRIDWRKS is hospitality-driven, proactive, and community-oriented, balancing safety with guest experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in nightlife, event, or venue security (preferred)
• Strong understanding of crowd management, de-escalation, and conflict resolution
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse patrons
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in high-pressure environments
• High level of situational awareness and attention to detail
• Alignment with GRIDWRKS values of inclusivity, respect, and professionalism
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License (MANDATORY)
• First Aid / CPR certification (MANDATORY)
• Smart Serve (preferred)
• Use of Force (preferred)

Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
