Personal Security and Driver

Location: Calgary, AB
Schedule: Part-Time | Flexible Hours | Some evenings, weekends, and short-notice availability required

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a professional, discreet, and dependable individual to provide driving, security, and logistical support for a private executive. This role combines safe transportation, situational awareness, personal safety support, and security-related responsibilities during travel, appointments, meetings, and events.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional judgment, professionalism, and discretion while maintaining a calm and proactive presence. This position is ideal for individuals with experience in executive protection, law enforcement, military service, private security, investigations, or related fields.

This position requires the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. The successful candidate will be entrusted with sensitive information and expected to exercise sound judgment and discretion at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Transportation & Travel Support

  • Provide safe, professional, and punctual transportation services for the executive.
  • Coordinate travel logistics, routes, schedules, and transportation requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of traffic, weather, road conditions, and alternative routing options.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, maintained, and ready for use at all times.
  • Support airport transfers, meetings, appointments, events, and other transportation requirements.
  • Assist with secure arrivals and departures from vehicles and locations.

Personal Security & Risk Awareness

  • Maintain situational awareness during travel, public engagements, meetings, and events.
  • Monitor surroundings for unusual, suspicious, or potentially concerning activity.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments related to travel routes, destinations, and public environments.
  • Support personal safety through proactive planning and awareness measures.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating potential safety, security, and privacy risks.
  • Maintain a visible but professional presence that balances security awareness with discretion.

Confidentiality & Privacy Protection

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding schedules, travel plans, residences, business activities, personal information, and related matters.
  • Protect sensitive information and ensure discretion in all interactions.
  • Exercise sound judgment when handling confidential or privileged information.
  • Support privacy-conscious practices during travel, meetings, and public appearances.

Event & Appointment Support

  • Support executive attendance at meetings, events, appointments, and business functions.
  • Assist with site awareness, access considerations, and logistical coordination.
  • Monitor environments and assist with safe movement between locations.
  • Respond appropriately to changing conditions, scheduling adjustments, or unexpected circumstances.

Security Coordination & Emergency Response

  • Remain prepared to respond appropriately to security-related concerns or emergencies.
  • Support incident response, escalation, and communication when required.
  • Coordinate with emergency responders, security personnel, venue staff, or other stakeholders when necessary.
  • Assist in implementing security protocols and best practices as appropriate.

Vehicle & Equipment Management

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, readiness, and operational condition.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, inspections, repairs, and servicing requirements.
  • Monitor vehicle records, insurance documentation, and registration requirements.
  • Ensure required emergency equipment and supplies are available and maintained.

Stakeholder Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain professional communication with the executive, assistants, household staff, event organizers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate schedules, transportation requirements, and logistical details.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively regarding travel plans, risks, and operational considerations.
  • Support a seamless and professional experience through proactive planning and execution.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Maintain awareness of best practices related to executive transportation, personal security, and risk management.
  • Support the development and implementation of security procedures, travel protocols, and operational standards.
  • Promote professionalism, reliability, and accountability in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Previous experience in executive protection, law enforcement, military service, private security, investigations, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of personal safety, threat awareness, risk assessment, and de-escalation techniques
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of discretion and commitment to confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, reference check, and driver’s abstract review

Preferred Experience

  • Law enforcement or protective services
  • Military service
  • Executive protection or private security
  • Criminology, criminal justice, security management, or related education
  • Defensive driving or advanced driver training
  • First Aid, CPR, or emergency response certification
  • Experience supporting executives, high-profile individuals, or private families
  • Alberta Security Services Worker License
  • Executive protection training
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Experience with residential security, event security, or secure transportation
  • Familiarity with privacy-sensitive or high-discretion environments
