Inter-Con is searching for aspiring individuals to join our thriving team of Healthcare Security Officers. You’ll work as a member of a close team to form the backbone of the broad security services Inter-Con provides its valued clients every day. As healthcare facilities are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, we are seeking officers with open availability for Day, Swing and/or Graveyard shift.
Job Description:
- Entry and egress access control
- De-escalating disruptive visitor, employee or patient behavior
- Communicating with designated site employees regarding incidents or daily security rounds
- Visitor and building employee identification verification
- Review security alerts issued by company
- Ensure visitors and staff park in appropriate locations
- Monitoring and responding to building intrusion detection systems
- Conduct periodic patrols inside and outside the buildings
- Respond to and investigate all smoke and fire alarm conditions and any other indications of suspicious activities within assigned areas.
- Guard I must be 21 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES SHALL INCLUDE, AT A MINIMUM, THE FOLLOWING:
- Ensuring County staff present appropriate County identification when entering a Services Sites, or a restricted area within a Services Site.
- Intervening to prevent injurious acts to persons or damage to County property.
- Safeguarding County property against theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
- Preventing entry of weapons and other illegal contraband into a Services Sites.
- Providing information and assistance to the public as needed.
- Operating Contractor or County owned weapon screening equipment, including x-ray machines and magnetometers, both screen-operated and hand-held, as required by Service Site and document findings.
- Visually screening packages for suspicious markings. If package is suspicious, placing package in an open area and notifying proper authorities, including local law enforcement and Service Site Administrator.
- Locking and unlocking gates and doors; and raising and lowering flags at designated times.
- Ensuring that only authorized personnel are permitted access to closed or restricted areas.
- Responding to reports of ill or injured visitors, patrons or employees, rendering first aid and notifying local law enforcement and Service Site Administrator, as soon as practicably feasible.
- Relaying reports of bomb threats immediately to local law enforcement and Service Site Administrator.
- Responding to the scene of locally activated fire, burglary, or other alarms, evaluate the situation and taking appropriate action.
- Monitoring building alarm systems and electronic surveillance equipment, such as closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitors, in buildings, halls, or parking lots.
- Conducting regular vehicle patrols of Service Sites, utilizing Contractor-issued motor vehicles, bicycles or scooters as required by Service Sites.
- Loging activities and events on the Daily Activity Report (DAR).
Qualifications:
- Bilingual preferred
- Ability to read, speak, understand and write the English language in order to accurately report emergencies to 911, write required reports, participate in required training, review and understand post orders as well as read and understand all posted warnings at facilities regarding potential hazards and related safety instructions.
- Ability to operate 2-way radio device and any other communication equipment
- Be able to physically stand and walk for long periods of time
Requirements:
Basic:
- Successfully pass a criminal background check that requires a fingerprint examination conducted by the California Department of Justice prior to being assigned to any facility.
- Successfully pass a drug test
- Valid CA Firearms License
- Baton Permit
- Undergo training for specific post duties, emergency procedures and the operation of on site security systems
- Proof of Vaccinations
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Minimum of 12 months experience as a guard, verifiable via BSIS licensing and/or employment records.
Licensing, Permits & Certifications:
- Permanent Guard Registration Card issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) which allows to be employed by a licensed agency for a two-year period.
- Must have valid identification that includes a Class “C” drivers license, State or Federal Identification card, or Valid Passport
- Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED (courses provided)
