Position Overview

Code 4 Private Security is seeking a highly professional and detail-oriented Security Coordinator – Special Events (Unarmed) to oversee and manage security operations for special events throughout the San Jose and Bay Area.

The Security Coordinator – Special Events (Unarmed) is responsible for staffing, coordinating, and managing unarmed security operations for special events, including real-time event execution. This role is the operational point of contact between Code 4 Private Security, assigned security staff, and high-end clients.

This position requires a professional presence, leadership under pressure, and strong communication. The coordinator ensures events are staffed correctly, posts are executed properly, and client expectations are met.


Pay

$30.00 per hour Part-Time to Full-Time (As Needed, Based on Event Volume)


Location

San Jose, CA (and surrounding Bay Area locations as required)


Key Responsibilities

Event Operations & Coordination

  • Coordinate unarmed security coverage for special events from start to finish
  • Serve as the on-site or on-call operational lead during assigned events
  • Ensure post assignments, access control, and client instructions are followed
  • Manage real-time changes (guest flow, venue requests, staffing gaps, emergencies)
  • Maintain calm control and handle issues before they escalate


Staffing & Scheduling

  • Recruit, schedule, confirm, and deploy qualified security personnel
  • Build and maintain a dependable roster of event-ready guards
  • Confirm attendance, manage call-outs, and arrange replacements as needed
  • Ensure staff receive post orders, uniform requirements, and reporting instructions
  • Coordinate staffing levels based on event scope, client expectations, and risk level


Client Service & Professional Representation

  • Maintain a polished, professional presence with high-end clients and venues
  • Communicate clearly with clients before and during events
  • Resolve client concerns quickly and appropriately
  • Uphold Code 4’s service standards and protect the company’s reputation


Staff Leadership & Accountability

  • Conduct pre-shift briefings and enforce post orders
  • Maintain professionalism, customer service, and compliance from all staff
  • Correct performance issues on-site and document incidents as needed
  • Report staffing, conduct, and operational issues to management promptly


Reporting & Documentation

  • Complete incident reports, shift summaries, and post-event notes as required
  • Track staffing performance and client feedback for continuous improvement


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years security experience (event, hospitality, or client-facing security preferred)
  • Strong scheduling, coordination, and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service under pressure
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to handle last-minute changes
  • Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel to event sites
  • Flexible availability (nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and remain alert and professional


Preferred Qualifications

  • Law enforcement experience (current or former) a plus
  • Military/veteran experience a plus
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred; other languages a plus)
  • Prior experience supervising or coordinating event security teams
  • Experience with crowd management, access control, VIP events, or corporate venue


Licensing & Requirements

  • Valid California Guard Card (Unarmed)
  • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred; or willingness to obtain)
  • Must pass background screening and meet client site requirements


Appearance & Uniform Standards

  • Must be able to wear a standard security uniform as required
  • Must also be able to wear a professional suit for higher-end assignments when required
  • Professional grooming and appearance are mandatory for client-facing events


Work Schedule

  • Part-time initially with potential to move into full-time based on event demand and performance
  • Schedule varies weekly depending on event bookings
  • Must be able to manage events as they occur, including occasional short-notice needs
