As a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy, our skilled professionals have successfully completed hundreds of ship repair and modernization projects for the Navy and Military Sealift Command.
We perform maintenance and modernization on all classes of major surface vessels, including CVN, CG, and DDG, as well as amphibious ships such as LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work spans a full range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability systems, supporting the readiness and mission success of the U.S. Fleet.
Vigor Marine CM San Diego is currently seeking a Critical Response Officer 2 to support our operations. The Critical Response Officer 2 safeguards industrial premises to protect property and personnel against fire, theft, vandalism, unauthorized entry, and other risks. Provides protective services, conducts access control, monitors facility, and enforces policy operations. The position engages in landside, and waterborne PHYSEC (Physical Security), OPSEC (Operational Security), PERSEC (Personnel Security), and INFOSEC (Information Security) programs. Responsibilities include conducting and preventing MASINT (Measurement and Signatures Intelligence) while engaging in counterintelligence operations associated with HUMINT (Human Intelligence), IMINT (Imagery Intelligence), SIGINT (Signals Intelligence), and OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence). Further, identifies and reports on potential insider threat activities. Conducts the Shipyard Competent Person (SYCP) function, responds to high angles, confined spaces, and medical emergencies onboard ships within the facility. Prevents, protects, detects, and deters any damage to or loss of government, company, and personal property.

Conducts Security entry and exit checks at assigned gates during shift changes. These checks consist of searching for people, vehicles, lunch boxes, backpacks, toolboxes and or any other outgoing boxes or packages when directed. Reports any unusual or suspicious discoveries immediately.

Opens and secures entry control points and locations accessing information.

Acts as facility dispatcher including afterhours, weekends, and holidays by responding to incoming communications following a counterintelligence script.

Monitors and controls vehicle, and personnel traffic throughout the facility through a CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) System.

Prepares a Security Incident report when incidents occur.

Maintains company vehicle logs, non-company logs, boat inspection logs, boat refuel logs, visitor log, pass down log, and daily activity reports.

Conducts/Maintains records of inspection reports including, but not limited to, Fire Sprinkler Control Valve (weekly) and Fire Extinguisher (monthly).

Ensure Material Transfer Chits (MTC) and/or a Gate Pass are used for material leaving facility.

Prepares and issues Company Identification Badges.

Supports government contracts by performing checkpoints, environmental, health, safety, and security inspections.

Maintains Call-ins for absent or tardy personnel.
-
Coordinates and conducts emergency responses and makes appropriate calls, and responds to emergencies in identified capacities (i.e. technical, rescue team, active shooter, etc.)

Checks all vehicles bringing in equipment for jobs that may not be cleared for environmental protection.

Identifies, handles, stores, disseminates, and destroys CUI.
-
Interprets and maintains the instructions provided by NFPA certified Marine Chemists.

Conducts atmospheric testing and physical inspections in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Interprets and understand how to use a five gas, atmospheric gas detector.

Performs daily updates of workspaces associated with the SYCP log as often as necessary but no less than once per 24-hour period when production work is occurring.

Verifies maintenance of conditions associated with regulatory requirements and make appropriate notifications and reports when safe conditions change.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Must have the capacity to obtain comprehensive understanding of all regulatory requirements associated with industrial activities pertaining to hot work and work occurring in confined/enclosed spaces.

Capacity to properly apply applicable OSHA, NFPA and NAVSEA Standard Items as it pertains to the SYCP’s role in hot work and confined/enclosed spaces.

Familiar with U.S. Naval Shipboard spaces and navigation identified as a “bullseye”.

Must be able to complete safety training (FAA) to safely operate Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

Must be courteous when interacting with the workforce, military, government personnel, and the public.

Must be able to acquire a Valid Vehicle Operators Permit for Powered Industrial Trucks (i.e. aerial boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts).

Must be able to acquire California Boater Safety Card.

Must be able to acquire BSIS Guard Card

Must be able to qualify, retain and execute life safety response as a technical rescue team member.

Must be able to acquire an OSHA 10 Hour Card of NAVSEA or approved equivalent.

Must be able to acquire First Aid, CPR/AED Trained from the Red Cross or AHA (EMT’s are preferred)

Must be able to write legibly with proper sentence structure to communicate incidents via report writing.

Must be able to communicate clearly and follow radio use policy.

Must have a basic understanding of computer systems (i.e. Microsoft office)

May be exposed to fumes, irritants, laser light, toxic chemicals, and potential electrical shock in an industrial or shipboard environment.

May involve gathering data while observing rotating or operating machinery.

Must be able to maneuver ascend and descend stairs/ladders/ramps located inside various ships.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the shift at times.
