Job Description

A safety and security aide/receptionist job combines the customer service and administrative tasks of a front desk receptionist with the security and monitoring duties of a security officer. The primary responsibility is to serve as the first point of contact for a facility while also protecting people and property by enforcing security policies.

Qualifications and skills
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in security, customer service, or a front desk role is often preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with visitors and preparing reports.
  • Professionalism: Must maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, especially in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Observational skills: A keen sense of awareness to notice and report unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Interpersonal skills: The ability to remain calm and de-escalate confrontational situations with difficult individuals.
  • Technical proficiency: Familiarity with basic office software and the ability to operate security and visitor management systems.
  • Physical requirements: Some positions may require the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Reception and administrative functions
  • Front desk management: Welcoming visitors and employees with a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Communication: Answering and routing incoming phone calls and directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel or department.
  • Mail and deliveries: Receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail and packages.
  • Clerical tasks: Performing administrative duties like data entry, file maintenance, and assisting with paperwork or reports for the security or human resources departments.
