Security Guard – Busy Sports Bar

Position Summary

The security guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all guests and employees at a busy sports bar. The position requires strong customer-service skills, sound judgement, and the ability to remain calm and professional during high-volume periods, sporting events, and potentially difficult situations.

Key Responsibilities

● Monitor entrances, exits, and all areas of the venue to ensure safety and enforce house policies, including age verification.

● Observe guest behavior, identify potential issues, and de-escalate conflicts or disruptive conduct.

● Respond promptly to incidents such as fights, disturbances, medical emergencies, or other safety concerns.

● Remove or assist in removing guests who violate policies or pose risks.

● Maintain a visible security presence.

● Monitor crowd levels and guest flow during peak hours and major sporting events.

● Protect company property and report theft, vandalism, or suspicious activity.

● Document incidents accurately and communicate key events to management.

● Contact emergency services when necessary.

● Collaborate with bartenders, servers, managers, and security staff.

● Maintain professionalism and respectful conduct at all times.

● Follow all company policies, security procedures, and applicable laws.

Qualifications

● Prior experience in security, hospitality, nightlife, or crowd control preferred.

● Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.

● Ability to stay calm under pressure and make sound decisions.

● Professional appearance and reliable attendance.

● Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

● Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and major sporting events.

● NYS Security License required.

● CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

● Ability to stand and move for long periods.

● Quick response capability in emergencies.

● Ability to assist with safely managing or escorting disruptive individuals when appropriate.

● Comfort working in loud, crowded, fast-paced environments.

Work Environment: High-energy sports bar with heavy guest traffic, especially during evenings, weekends, and major sporting events. Ideal candidates are alert, approachable, and proactive in preventing issues before they escalate.

Pay: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour
