As a Security Officer – Shelter Patrol Full-Time in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will greet staff, residents, and visitors with respectful customer service, support access points, and communicate clear, timely updates. What You’ll Do:
- Provide customer service at a shelter location by carrying out Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas, including common spaces, entrances, and perimeter routes, noting unusual activity and reporting concerns per site instructions.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using verbal de-escalation techniques and requesting additional support from site leadership and/or emergency services when needed.
- Monitor access points and assist with visitor and resident flow in accordance with site rules, checking credentials and/or sign-in logs as required and directing individuals to appropriate areas.
- Complete detailed incident reports and shift logs, communicate observations to the next shift and site contacts, and help support an orderly environment by addressing security-related issues within post orders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
- Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
- Provide proof of a high school diploma and/or GED as required by the client.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
