About the Role:

The Security Officer for the Night Shift plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the premises during overnight hours. This position is responsible for monitoring and protecting property, personnel, and assets from potential threats or unauthorized activities. The officer will conduct regular patrols, respond promptly to alarms or incidents, and ensure compliance with all security protocols. Effective communication and vigilance are essential to identify and mitigate risks proactively. Ultimately, this role ensures a secure environment that supports uninterrupted business operations and peace of mind for all stakeholders during the night.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid security officer license or certification as required by the state of employment.
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts consistently and reliably.
  • Basic knowledge of security operations, emergency response, and safety protocols.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of formal security training programs or courses.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with surveillance systems and electronic security technology.
  • Strong physical fitness to perform patrol duties effectively.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine patrols of the facility and surrounding areas to detect and prevent security breaches or suspicious activities.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment and alarm systems to identify and respond to potential security incidents promptly.
  • Control access points by verifying credentials and authorizing entry to authorized personnel only.
  • Document and report any incidents, irregularities, or safety hazards observed during the shift in detailed logs.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency responders when necessary to address security threats or emergencies.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures related to safety and security during the night shift.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to employees, visitors, and contractors while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor.


Skills:

The Security Officer utilizes observational skills daily to identify potential security risks and respond appropriately to maintain a safe environment. Communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, visitors, and emergency personnel, ensuring clear and effective information exchange. Technical skills are applied when operating surveillance equipment, alarm systems, and access control devices to monitor and secure the premises. Problem-solving abilities enable the officer to assess situations quickly and take decisive action during incidents or emergencies. Additionally, physical stamina and attention to detail support the consistent performance of patrols and thorough documentation of security activities.
