Pay: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour

The School Guardian at our Kodiak Campus plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position requires a proactive, observant individual who can respond effectively to safety concerns while building positive relationships within the school community. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to upholding school safety protocols.
Maintain a safe and secure campus environment for students, staff, and visitors
Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and community members
Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services
Assist in developing and implementing emergency response and safety plans
Patrol campus and monitor for unauthorized individuals; verify identification as needed
Support law enforcement as directed by school administration
Ensure doors and gates are secured and opened per school schedule
Supervise and provide security for school activities and after-school events
Complete and submit required daily guardian logs (DCPS requirements)
Assist with student intake procedures, searches, and wanding when necessary
Support compliance, training, and recertification efforts for guardian staff
Conduct security assessments and participate on the BTAT team
Respond to emergencies, including initiating Code Red or Code Yellow protocols
Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
Monitor security cameras and surveillance systems
Assist with fire alarm and emergency procedures as assigned
Support setup and supervision of after-school events
Required: Valid Florida Guardian Certificate
High school diploma or GED
Basic First Aid knowledge (preferred)
Knowledge of security procedures and best practices
Prior experience in private security or law enforcement preferred
Familiarity with school safety protocols and applicable laws (including search and seizure)
Work Environment
Must remain on campus during assigned shifts unless approved by the principal
Guardian coverage must be maintained at all times
Time-off requests must be submitted at least 48 hours in advance
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear
Ability to operate computers and security equipment
Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds
Standing and walking required for up to 2/3 of the workday
