Nightwatchman – Job Description

Reports to: Operations Manager

Schedule: Overnight (Hours 6:00 pm – 7:00 a.m)

Location: Craftex Wholesale and Distributors, Inc. Position Summary

The Nightwatchman is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and operational readiness of all company facilities during overnight hours. This role conducts regular property checks, responds to issues that arise after hours, and performs essential duties that support building maintenance, product protection, and overall site integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Security & Safety

· Conduct routine patrols of the interior and exterior of all buildings.

· Monitor for break-ins, vandalism, or suspicious activity.

· Observe and report any individuals engaging in unsafe or illegal behavior around the property (including drug use).

· Ensure all doors, gates, and entry points are secured.

Incident Monitoring & Response

· Identify and report facility issues during off-hours (HVAC failures, leaks, power issues, etc.).

· Address urgent concerns immediately and escalate to appropriate staff when needed.

Product & Property Oversight

· Check for any product left outside after operational hours and ensure it is covered or protected.

· Maintain awareness of weather conditions and take necessary precautions to safeguard goods and equipment.

Deliveries & Vendor Access

· Receive and secure after-hours deliveries (Amazon, mail, packages, etc.).

· Provide access to the garbage truck/dumpster service and ensure proper pickup.

Plant & Animal Care

· Water indoor and outdoor plants as assigned.

· Feed and look after company cats, ensuring their wellbeing and safety overnight.

General Facilities Support

· Perform basic maintenance tasks as directed.

· Report any facility cleanliness issues or hazards.

· Keep a detailed nightly log of activities, incidents, and observations.

Qualifications

· Prior experience in security, facility monitoring, maintenance, or similar preferred.

· Ability to work independently and remain alert during overnight shifts.

· Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.

· Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.

· Ability to interact professionally with vendors and delivery personnel.

· Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to walk the property for patrols.

· Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed (e.g., covering product).

· Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.

Pay: $35,000.00 – $40,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
