Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Manager, Security & EM – Shipping through 04/06/2026 at 11:59 p.m. (CST).
Leads a team responsible for Chevron Shipping’s security and emergency management programs to ensure security of personnel and assets, emergency preparedness, and compliance with ISPS, MTSA, and oil spill response regulatory requirements for Chevron’s operated fleet of oil and gas tankers trading globally.
Partners with Chevron Global Security, U.S. and international military services, private security contractors, maritime industry organizations, and emergency response contractors. The position is critical in ensuring secure marine operations and emergency response preparedness.
Role engages directly with senior military leadership on maritime security issues and maintains an industry network of maritime security professionals. Develops and delivers security training, emergency management training, supports crisis management and continuity planning. Reports to the OE/HSE Manager, Shipping.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for fleetwide ISPS, MTSA, and oil spill response (IMO, CFR, state) compliance.
  • Liaises with U.S. and international senior military leadership, and maritime security agencies, commissions, and forums.
  • Manages security and emergency response infrastructure, tools, procedures, and training.
  • Manages tracking of security incidents and threat assessments for operated and chartered vessels, including route, port and vessel security clearances and training of vessel assurance specialists.
  • Manages Chevron Security of Personnel and Assets and Emergency Management processes, including company’s security and emergency response drill programs.
  • Manages third party security and emergency response / oil spill contracts.
Qualifications
  • Marine security experience in a leadership role, such as military service in a maritime leadership role, Company Security Officer, or Facility Security Officer.
  • Demonstrated experience with military, maritime industry, and regulatory organizations in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated application of security and emergency response protocols and resources, including experience implementing Ship Security Plans and Vessel Response Plans.
  • Familiarity with marine emergency response operations and organizations.
  • Incident Command System qualified is desirable.
  • Experience working with industry associations (API, OCIMF, BIMCO, ISSF, or similar) is desirable.
Selection Criteria
  • Marine security leadership experience, i.e., military service, Company Security Officer, or Facility Security Officer. Familiary with marine emergency response operations and organizations. Demonstrated knowledge of military, maritime industry, and regulatory organizations. Demonstrated application of security and emergency response protocols and resources, including experience implementing Ship Security Plans and Vessel Response Plans. Incident Command System qualified and experience working with industry associations is desirable.
