Job Summary:
The Strategos Protection Specialist provides armed physical security and threat-management services within client environments, ensuring the safety of employees, visitors, and property. Specialists prevent unauthorized access, respond to suspicious or criminal behavior, address disruptive or violent behavior, and intervene to stop active threats. The Specialist maintains a visible presence, fosters safety awareness, and collaborates with client personnel to support a secure environment. This role requires excellent situational awareness, rapid decision-making, and the ability to intervene in life-threatening situations while maintaining professionalism and adherence to legal and company standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Protection & Surveillance
· Provide continuous armed protection for staff and visitors.
· Conduct interior and exterior patrols, including stairwells, parking lots, and multi-level facilities.
· Maintain high-visibility presence in assigned areas.
· Monitor entrances/exits, cameras, alarms, and access control systems to ensure only authorized individuals access the building.
· Identify, assess, and mitigate threats, including violent, behavioral, or suspicious activity.
Incident Response & Crisis Intervention
· Respond promptly and decisively to emergencies, disturbances, or security threats and coordinate response efforts.
· Apply trained use-of-force principles, including deadly force, as permitted by law and Strategos policy.
· Coordinate with client administrators, security management teams, law enforcement, and EMS when needed.
· Act as the primary point of contact between Strategos International, client administration or security management team, and local emergency responders.
· Assist client administration or security management team in developing, reviewing, and implementing safety plans, emergency procedures, and threat mitigation strategies.
Communication & Documentation:
· Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct at all times.
· Document and report incidents or suspicious activities according to established procedures.
· Participate in safety planning and emergency preparedness activities.
· Maintain professional appearance at all times.
· Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and the public.
· Provide customer service and assist staff, and guests with safety needs.
· Escalate concerns to the direct supervisor and designated client contacts.
· Uphold Strategos values and represent Strategos well.
Compliance
· Follow all Strategos and client policies, post orders, and legal requirements.
· Maintain all mandatory certifications, training, and firearms qualifications.
· Adhere to confidentiality and data-protection standards.
· Failure to meet required Strategos Physical Training standards may result in withdrawal of offer, reassignment, or other company-approved action up to and including termination.
Ancillary Duties (periodic or as needed/not essential to perform primary functions of the job)
· Assist with safety drills and staff education.
· Aid and support staff and guests as needed, including conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
· Participate in all continuing education and training sessions to stay updated on safety protocols and procedures.
· Foster a culture of inclusivity and respect within the school community.
· Any other duties assigned. Aptitude and Work Experience Qualifications· High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in law enforcement, security, or a related field preferred.· 2 Years of Armed or Unarmed Security Experience, Military (Combat Arms MOS), or Law Enforcement Experience.
· Must be 21+ years old for Armed Positions
· Completion of the 120-hour Strategos Academy or ability to complete such training.
· Post-offer requirement: Due to the nature of the position, must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening.
· Must be able to pass the Strategos physical fitness test annually.
· Pass initial and recurring firearms qualification (frequency set by Strategos).
· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
· Fluent in reading, speaking, and writing English.
· Must maintain a TX Level 3 Security Officer Certification.
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
· Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods (up to 12-hour shifts).
· Run throughout large buildings or campuses (up to 300 meters).
· Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, for 10 yards.
· Push, pull, or drag up to 160 pounds, for 10 yards, during emergencies or evacuation events.
· Ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs rapidly with gear.
· Bend, kneel, squat, crouch, crawl, or assume prone positions quickly.
· The ability to meet and maintain the Strategos physical fitness standards is considered an essential job function. Failure to meet the required Strategos Physical Training standards may result in withdrawal of the offer, reassignment, or other company-approved action, up to and including termination.
· Maintain visual, auditory, and situational awareness in varying environments.
· Perform fine motor tasks including drawing, firing, and securing a firearm.
· Work in indoor/outdoor settings, including inclement weather.
· Exposure to high noise levels, crowds, distressed individuals, or aggressive behavior.
· High-stress decision-making with potential for life-threatening consequences.
· Working independently for extended periods.
· Must be able to see, hear, and smell to respond to alarms and detect emergency situations.
· Clear verbal communication skills to effectively interact with staff, clients, visitors, and emergency personnel.
· Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
