SECURITY OFFICER
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision, hospital security personnel perform patrols throughout the campus to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and property. Responsibilities include deterring and investigating suspicious activity, responding to emergencies, enforcing hospital policies, and assisting with various securityrelated duties. Security personnel also provide support through safety escorts, basic first aid, and excellent customer service. Detailed incident documentation and effective communication are integral to this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols to identify safety hazards, suspicious activity, and unauthorized individuals.
- Monitor and enforce hospital policies, including visitor guidelines, access control, and restricted area protocols.
- Operate and monitor security systems such as CCTV, alarm, access control, and emergency notification platforms.
- Respond promptly to calls involving disturbances, suspicious activity, criminal incidents, accidents, and other emergencies.
- Investigate complaints, safety concerns, and suspicious activity, documenting findings in detailed incident reports.
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts and, when necessary, physically intervene to restrain individuals to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
- Assist with hospital emergency protocols, including evacuations, lockdowns, and disaster response efforts.
- Provide basic first aid to individuals requiring medical attention until advanced care is available.
- Participate in the safe restraint of combative patients, adhering to hospital protocols and prioritizing safety.
Customer Service and Assistance
- Assist patients, visitors, and staff with directions, safety escorts, and general inquiries, ensuring professional and compassionate service.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect when interacting with the diverse hospital community.
Specialized and Sensitive Duties
- Assist with the transport and release of deceased individuals as required, ensuring sensitivity and professionalism in such situations.
Environmental and Physical Requirements
- Operate hospital vehicles during patrols or other assignments, with driving periods of up to 8–10 hours per shift.
- Position requires continuous standing and walking during an 8–10-hour shift.
- Work in diverse environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme weather, confined spaces, or poorly ventilated areas.
- Frequently use elevators and stairs for patrols and emergency responses.
- Communicates in-person, by telephone, and written correspondence.
- Stands, stoops, reaches, pushes, and pulls.
- Occasional running, including running upstairs carrying heavy emergency equipment weighing 25 lbs or more and or other emergency supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills, as well as the maturity and ability to deal with all levels of people, both inside and outside the company required.
- General knowledge of federal, state, or local regulations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and applications utilized by Security Operations.
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously to completion required.
- Ability to read and write in English and use arithmetic skills accurately to complete daily paperwork required.
- Accuracy and attention to detail required.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required to communicate with management, co-workers, and patients effectively.
- Ability to work hours outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required. Work requires a level of interpersonal skills necessary to provide courteous and professional assistance or service to patients, visitors and staff at all levels.
- Work requires a high standard of personal appearance and grooming which conveys a professional image.
Required Experience / Education
- Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional education and security experience a plus.
- Position requires maintaining compliance with the company’s Substance Abuse Policy, completing the TCPS Level 2 Course, maintaining a valid Texas Driver License, CPR, AED and de-escalation training, and Texas Non-commissioned Security Officer License.
Reporting Relationships
- During the training period, reports directly to the training manager or assigned shift supervisor.
- After training, reports to the supervisor for the assigned shift or the supervisor on duty.
- Follows the chain of command, reporting to supervisory personnel up to and including the Director of Security.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
