Join our dedicated team as a Seasonal On-Call Unarmed Security Officer at our Inclement Weather Shelter, where your vigilance and commitment will help ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable populations during challenging weather conditions. Duties
- Monitor shelter premises continuously through active surveillance, including CCTV systems and physical patrols, to maintain a safe environment for all occupants.
- Provide a welcoming presence while enforcing shelter policies and procedures with professionalism and compassion.
- Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, utilizing conflict management skills to de-escalate situations and ensure safety for everyone involved.
- Assist with check-in and check-out processes for shelter residents, verifying identities and documenting relevant information accurately.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency responders when necessary, facilitating communication and coordination during incidents.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility, including fire exits, common areas, and security equipment such as CCTV cameras and alarms.
- Maintain detailed shift reports, incident logs, and documentation related to daily activities, safety concerns, or unusual occurrences.
Requirements
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military service, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain these certifications if not already held.
- Knowledge of surveillance systems (CCTV), loss prevention techniques, and conflict management strategies.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while effectively managing conflicts or difficult situations.
- Strong observational skills with attention to detail during patrols and surveillance activities.
- Excellent communication skills to interact empathetically with shelter residents, staff, and emergency personnel.
- Flexibility to work on an on-call basis during evenings, nights, weekends, and inclement weather conditions. Pay: $15.00 – $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
