Security Guard – Armed

Summary:

Local Central Ohio Security Company is actively seeking a reliable and adaptable Security Officer to support our client sites. While this role is rooted in traditional security responsibilities, certain assignments may involve broader operational support based on client needs. The ideal candidate is dependable, observant, and willing to step in where needed while maintaining a strong security presence at all times.

Details & Benefits:

• $17.50 – $25.00/hr starting rate (based on taser vs firearm certification as well as experience)
• Full-time positions available, overtime available
• Day, evening and weekend shifts available.

Qualifications – applicants should / must:

• Already have or be willing to obtain a CCW permit
• Must have or be able to obtain a current security guard license with firearm
• Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position
• Ability to remain alert, professional, and composed in all situations
• Comfortable interacting with the public and representing the client professionally
• Willingness to take direction and adapt to changing responsibilities
• Ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks when required
• Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
• Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
• Surveillance skills and detail orientation
• Integrity and professionalism
• Good communication skills, attention to detail, and customer interaction skills
• Ability to pass credit evaluation, drug test, and background check evaluation
• Be highly organized, detail oriented, diligent, and exceeding dutiful.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Carry out duties of an armed Security Officer
• Adapt to varying client environments and site-specific responsibilities as needed
• Support general site operations when requested, while maintaining safety and security standards
• Assist with tasks such as:
• Basic customer-facing roles (e.g., cashiering or check-in support)
• Traffic or parking lot coordination
• Equipment operation (only when trained and authorized)
• General labor or project-based support
• Protect company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment
• Observing for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances
• Acting lawfully in direct defense of life or property
• Patrol randomly or regularly building and perimeter
• Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates
• Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment
• Maintain a visible and professional security presence at assigned sites
• Monitor premises, enforce site rules, and report incidents or irregular activity
• Control site access, verify credentials, and ensure only authorized individuals enter
• Conduct routine patrols and document findings accurately
• Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, emergencies, or client concerns
