Job Description

Description:

  • Is knowledgeable of consumer rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all consumers in a safe, secure environment.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:

o Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.

o Confidentiality of all data, including consumer, employee and operations data.

o Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Supports and participates in common teamwork:

o Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal

supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.

o Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.

o Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or consumers regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.

o Promotes positive public relations with consumers, family members and guests.

o Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes

including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

o Following facility emergency procedures and checking that staff on the units are following all such

procedures; assisting various shifts on fire safety protocol; performs routine safety checks as directed.

o Assisting floor staff in behavior management.

o Reporting all incidents and unit issues to the Security Manager/QMHP/House Manager/Administration.

o Checking for maintenance issues and writing maintenance requests as needed.

o Monitor Consumers who leave facility, verifying applicable Pass Level (i.e., Pass Level A/C).

o Respond appropriately to all real time incidents or emergencies, emergency drills and active alarm

situations.

o Patrol the interior of the perimeter of the facility to observe and identify potential safety risks, security risks and undesirable conditions

o Uses appropriate CPI techniques when necessary, and understands to return immediately to the

assigned post upon completing this task.

o Demonstrates the ability to stay alert (no fraternization) while on shift

o Searches of consumers or, if instructed by a supervisor, searches of staff

o Completing all reports and documentation as advised by the Security Manager

o Reporting all incidents and/or issues to the Security Manager, House Manager or other administrative personnel, as directed by policy

o Assist with visual monitoring of Consumers in the area of the assigned post

o Assist with one to one monitoring of consumers

o Escorts employees, consumers or visitors throughout the facility as requested

o Demonstrates the ability to maintain current department trainings, meeting standards and implements those trainings into work performance (ie: radio communications, verbal de-escalation and CPI training, etc.)

o Must be able to stand/walk/climb stairs quickly and effectively throughout shift

o Assist as a smoke monitor, when requested by a supervisor

Requirements:

  • Must possess a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must possess valid CPR certification
  • Must maintain valid CPI certification.
  • PERC card preferred.
