The Serviam Armed Security Officer provides protection and surveillance of a person, group, organization, asset, property, employees and/or visitors as assigned. The Serviam Armed Security Officer may also provide oversight and training of Security Guards. The Armed Security Officer will also serve in the role of Unarmed Security Guard when required by the mission and/or the Client. To be successful in this role, the Armed Security Officer must be well-organized, willing and able to follow direction and absorb training lessons, have great communication skills, exhibit leadership and adaptability, and be able to act legally and ethically without direct supervision. Ultimately, the Armed Security Officer will contribute to the efficiency of our business by providing personalized and timely support to Serviam clients.
Screening Filters
1. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
2. Must be at least 21 years old.
3. Must have a high school diploma or GED-equivalent.
4. Must be fluent in English.
5. Must be willing to go through pre-hire background check and drug screening.
6. Must have an active PERC.
7. Must have a current FOID.
8. Must have conflict resolution and/or de-escalation training.
9. Must have completed the Illinois-required 40-hour training for armed security guards.
10. Must have at least three (3) years of security guard experience, at least two (2) of them in armed assignments.

c. This experience may be from private security work.
Pay for Armed Security Guards
Starting Pay $20/hour
Pay Range of $20-$30/hour dependent on a combination of job performance, experience, special skills, details of the assigned mission, and the candidate’s assigned mission roles/responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Understand the assignment and basic who-what-when-where-why-how details on day one.
· Review equipment condition before using in the field.
· Protect client’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
· Patrol, observe, de-escalate, protect, and report signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances.
· Patrol randomly or regularly the building and perimeter.
· Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates.
· Act lawfully in direct defense of protected staff, property, and environment.
· Remove people who violate the rules of the secure site.
· Apprehend criminals and evict violators.
· Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
· Report in detail any suspicious incidents to the client and direct supervisor.
· Review, understand, and resolve the previous day’s incidents.
· Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment.
· Perform first aid or CPR as needed.
· Communicate with the Client on a regular basis to assure satisfaction, hear any concerns, and pivot activities as appropriate.
· Assign equipment as needed to perform contractual requirements/
· Review equipment condition before use in the field.
· Listen to security colleagues for issues, concerns, problem-solving, and continuous improvement of our processes. Implement and document changes in Standard Operating Procedures as appropriate.
Serviam Communications
· Use each incident as a training and process improvement opportunity.
· Share improvement with team members as well as other Security Officers and the direct Supervisor.
· Report in detail any suspicious incidents to the Client and the direct Supervisor.
· Track and report accurately all hours worked daily to the direct Supervisor.
· Offer suggestions for improving customer service based on individual client circumstances.
· Operate as part of a cooperative security team, working together and often flexibly to meet the terms of the Client’s contract with Serviam.
· Assure required professional certifications are renewed on time.
Requirements
Education (all required)
·IDFPR (or equivalent other US state authority) certified security officer with PERC
· Proof of successful completion of the State of Illinois required armed security guard 40-hour course.
· Excellent written and verbal communications for work with customers, visitors, colleagues, and employers.
· High school diploma or GED.
· A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is desired.
Experience Required, as described for the Security Guard position, PLUS:
· Proven supervisory experience in a field position.
· Successful customer relations examples.
· Sample of threat assessment skills.
Skills Required
·Ability to pass a criminal, financial, and drug background check, submit to fingerprinting, and have a valid state ID or driver’s license.
· Ability to read and understand English.
· Discretion and confidentiality are an absolute requirement.
· Proven work experience of two years minimum as a security guard or in a relevant, similar position.
· Excellent knowledge of security policies, procedures, protocols, and applicable law.
· Keen observation of suspicious activity, change in behavior, and changes in environment.
