Canine Security Officer/ K-9 Officer

Now Hiring: K9 Security Officer

Pay: $22.00 – $26.25 per hour

First American Security Services, a women-owned, City of Chicago-certified security company, is hiring experienced Security Officers for our K9 Operations Unit. Officers support government and public transportation facilities, working alongside trained K9 units to protect people, property, and critical infrastructure.

Key Requirements

• Must be 21 years or older
• Minimum 2 years of continuous security experience
• Active Illinois PERC Card (2+ years active) & 20-hour training certificate
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Illinois State ID or Driver’s License
• Ability to pass drug screening and extensive background check
• Comfortable working with dogs

Training & Schedule

• Mandatory daytime training for 4 weeks (full availability required) Classroom and hands-on K9 training, including CTA Red line platform instructions
• Work Schedule: 2nd & 3rd shifts (Weekends and holidays required)

Physical Requirements

• 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups
• Lift up to 70 lbs
• Run ½ mile
• Stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions

Job Duties

• Conduct patrols and maintain a visible security presence
• Monitor access points and surveillance systems
• Respond to security, medical, and fire emergencies
• Work in coordination with K9 units
• Prepare incident reports when required
