Job Title: Armed Security Officer – Military or Law Enforcement Background

Location: Chicago / Chicagoland Area, Illinois

Job Type: Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available

Schedule: All Shifts (Days/Afternoons/Overnights)

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 An Hour

About the Role:
Blue Line Security Solutions is looking for professional, dependable Armed Security Officers with a military and/or law enforcement background to join our team in the Chicago area. This role is open to candidates with prior military service, active or retired law enforcement experience, or other qualifying public-safety training who want to bring that background into private security. The ideal candidate has strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and the ability to stay calm and professional under pressure.

Job Description:

Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect unauthorized activity or security threats
Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and access points; respond to suspicious activity or incidents
Conduct inspections to confirm doors, windows, and access points are secure
Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, medical incidents, or accidents
Maintain accurate daily logs and incident reports
Verify authorized personnel, visitors, and vehicles at assigned properties
Provide professional customer service to employees, visitors, and clients
Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed
Follow all company policy, post orders, and applicable state/federal regulations
Participate in ongoing and site-specific training
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management

Qualifications:

Qualifying military or law enforcement backgrounds include: active-duty or former military service (Military Police, combat arms, or other specialties involving firearms training); active sworn law enforcement officers; and retired or former sworn officers with qualifying training and credentials.

Applicants must provide documentation verifying their service or credentials — e.g., DD-214, military ID, department ID, academy/training records, or retirement credentials.

Legally qualified to work as an armed security officer in Illinois
Valid Illinois PERC Card, unless the applicant qualifies for an applicable statutory exemption
Valid Illinois FOID Card
Valid Illinois 230 Original Firearms Training credential, or documentation of a firearms-training waiver/exemption recognized by IDFPR (e.g., qualifying ILETSB training or LEOSA-qualified retired-officer status) — any claimed exemption is subject to verification
No disciplinary actions regarding firearm use or force
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice, public safety, or a related field is preferred
Strong report-writing skills and ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure
Ability to follow directions and stand for long periods of time
Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening

Note: a military or law enforcement background does not automatically waive all Illinois security licensing requirements — applicants must still satisfy applicable state requirements or hold a recognized exemption.
