Job Description

As a Security Officer – Full Time – Afternoons in Evanston, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a dynamic university location, you will conduct routine foot patrols across campus spaces, remain highly visible to help to deter incidents, and respond to security-related concerns with calm, clear communication. You will assist students, faculty, and visitors with directions and resources, document observations, and support a caring, people-first culture by acting with integrity, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out site-specific procedures, campus policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and actions per site requirements.
• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of campus buildings, residence areas, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify maintenance or access concerns.
• Monitor access points and assist with visitor direction, key control and/or access badge procedures, and reporting of suspicious activity consistent with post orders.
• Complete routine reports, incident reports, and shift logs, and communicate timely updates to Allied Universal leadership and site representatives as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
