Job Overview

Reporting to Security Leadership, as a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, colleagues, and property. You will play a critical role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for all hotel guests, residents, and staff. This position requires a high level of professionalism, guest service skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure the safety and security of guests, colleagues, and visitors by maintaining a visible and vigilant presence throughout the hotel premises.
  • Monitor and control access to the hotel, ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises. Verify identification when necessary.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the hotel interior and exterior, including parking areas, to detect and prevent security breaches. Utilize security cameras and other surveillance equipment effectively.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to all security incidents, including but not limited to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and disturbances. Follow established emergency procedures.
  • Provide exceptional service to hotel guests and visitors by offering assistance and information in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all security-related incidents and activities, including incident reports and daily logs.
  • Assist in the management of the lost and found program, ensuring lost items are properly logged and returned to their owners.
  • Inspect and maintain security equipment, including radios, surveillance cameras, first aid supplies, and fire extinguishers. Report any malfunctions or issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with other hotel departments, such as front desk, housekeeping, and engineering, to address safety and security concerns and provide support as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay up to date on security procedures and protocols.
  • Provide security escorts for guests and colleagues when requested or when deemed necessary.
  • Assist in controlling crowds during special events or high-traffic periods.
  • Qualifications
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or the military is preferred.
  • Break down barriers and resolve potential conflicts swiftly.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Effectively communicate with the management, guests, and colleagues.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Clearly present information to supervisors, colleagues, and guests by telephone, writing, e-mail, or in person.
  • Demonstrate ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly, correctly, and in a way that allows one to solve work-related issues.
  • Uses basic computer hardware and software.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
  • Support all colleagues and treat them with dignity and respect.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with guests, colleagues, and departments.
  • Partner with and assist others to promote an environment of teamwork and achieve common goals.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours including overnights, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least 18 years’ old.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Education

  • Minimum of High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • College coursework in criminal justice or a related field is a plus
