Job Overview

Unison Security is seeking professional, customer-focused, and reliable Retail Security Officers to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy interacting with the public while helping maintain a safe and welcoming shopping environment.

As a Retail Security Officer, you will serve as a visible presence within the store, providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers when needed, and helping deter theft, shoplifting, and other unwanted activities through proactive observation and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional and visible presence throughout the retail store.
• Greet customers and provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Assist customers with directions, general inquiries, and store-related questions.
• Conduct regular patrols throughout the sales floor and surrounding areas.
• Observe customer and store activity to help deter theft and policy violations.
• Report suspicious activity, safety concerns, or incidents to management.
• Complete daily activity and incident reports as required.
• Assist store management with maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
• Respond professionally to customer concerns and minor disturbances.
• Support loss prevention efforts through observation and customer engagement.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent both the client and Unison Security positively at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Security Worker Licence (required).
• Previous retail security, customer service, hospitality, or security experience is an asset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly, approachable, and customer-service oriented.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Strong observation and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Schedule

• Full-time and part-time opportunities available.
• Day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.

Requirements

• Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or related fields is preferred
• Familiarity with loss prevention techniques and procedures
• Excellent observational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations professionally
• Good communication skills for reporting incidents clearly and effectively
• Must be able to pass background checks and any required security clearances
• Availability to work flexible shifts as needed to ensure 24/7 security coverage

Pay: $17.85-$19.00 per hour
