Security Guard – Downtown Eastside, 4-Hour Shifts

Pay Rate: $22.06/hour

Site: Downtown Eastside Site

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 05:30 – 09:30 (20 hours per week)

Site Overview

Located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, this client site requires a vigilant and supportive security presence during early morning hours. Your primary focus is ensuring smooth access to the facility, supporting site safety, and maintaining a secure environment for clients, staff, and visitors.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Conduct regular foot patrols across indoor and outdoor site areas, stairwells, and parking lots in all weather conditions.

• Evict loiterers blocking entrances and stairwells to keep facility access clear.

• Provide safe escorts for high-profile clients in the parking lot.

• Monitor site safety and maintain a clear, professional presence to deter security issues.

• Respond to incidents, de-escalate aggressive or tense situations calmly, and assist during emergencies.

• Write detailed incident reports and communicate safety issues promptly to supervisors, managers, and the client.

• Provide attentive customer service during interactions with clients and the public.

Must Haves

• Minimum of one year of experience working in the security industry.

• Reliable personal vehicle to commute to work (public transit is not available at the 05:30 shift start time).

• Strong communication, observation, and customer service skills.

• Confidence handling emergency situations, including incidents involving trauma, aggression, or bodily fluids.

• Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for the duration of the shift, including climbing stairs and navigating uneven surfaces.

• Currently residing in the Vancouver area.
