Security Guard – 4-Hour Shifts

Our Security Officers at this community centre in Vancouver’s West End are responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, while enforcing the code of conduct and resolving any conflicts. Our ideal candidate will have cultural sensitivity, a community-oriented mindset free of judgement, and great communication skills.

Pay Rate: $22.39/hour

Shifts: Monday-Friday, 0545-0945hrs (20 hours per week). Please note that it can be difficult to arrive at the starting time by transit, please check that you can make it by 05:45 prior to applying. Candidates who are living in the Vancouver area and have a reliable vehicle to commute are preferred due to this requirement.

Requirements:

• Valid BC Security License
• Excellent customer service and professionalism
• Strong communication for community interactions, report writing, and de-escalation
• Confidence approaching and leading incidents that occur at the facility
• Vigilance and situational awareness
• A keen eye for watching and reporting irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular foot patrols
• Treat all community members with respect and dignity, utilizing both empathy and patience in all interactions
• Enforce site policies, including controlling access to the facility
• Attend incidents, de-escalate situations, write detailed reports, and communicate any issues to Supervisor, Manager, and client as required
• Other duties as required to meet operational needs
