Job Overview

We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Retail Loss Prevention Officer to join our team in grocery and retail environments. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding store assets, preventing theft, and ensuring a safe shopping experience for customers and staff.

This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong observational skills, and the ability to respond effectively to security incidents. Prior experience in law enforcement, surveillance, or loss prevention is highly desirable. The Loss Prevention Officer will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of retail operations through proactive security measures and surveillance techniques.

Responsibilities

• Monitor store premises using CCTV systems and surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activity
• Conduct regular patrols of the store to observe customer behavior and identify theft or safety concerns
• Prevent shoplifting, fraud, and organized retail crime
• Collaborate with store management and law enforcement agencies when necessary
• Implement loss prevention strategies by analyzing surveillance footage and identifying theft patterns
• Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, emergencies, and safety incidents
• Maintain detailed incident reports, daily activity reports, and documentation
• Assist in training staff on security awareness and loss prevention procedures
• Enforce company policies and site-specific procedures professionally
• Maintain a strong and visible security presence throughout the property
• Provide excellent customer service while handling difficult situations professionally

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid BC Security Worker License required
• AST (Advanced Security Training) required
• Valid Occupational First Aid certification required
• Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or loss prevention preferred
• Strong knowledge of surveillance systems, CCTV operations, and security technology
• Excellent observational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and make quick decisions
• Ability to remain calm and professional during high-pressure situations
• Physical fitness to conduct patrols and respond quickly when required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be trustworthy, discreet, and maintain confidentiality
• Reliable transportation is considered an asset

Employment Terms

• 3-month probation period applies
• Schedule and site assignments may vary based on operational requirements
• Employees are expected to maintain attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct standards
• Failure to follow company procedures, reporting standards, or site policies may result in disciplinary action

Licensing & Training Requirements

• Candidates may be required to complete internal training and operational evaluations before deployment
• Applicants without a valid BC Security Worker License may be required to complete the mandatory licensing course and examination
• A minimum passing score of 70 out of 100 is required on company evaluations and licensing-related examinations
• Additional site-specific training will be provided where necessary

Pay: $17.85-$21.00 per hour

• Have you ever had a BC Security License suspended or revoked?
