Campus Security Officer


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular security patrols of assigned areas
  • Stand and walk for extended periods during shifts
  • Monitor surroundings and identify suspicious activity
  • Respond promptly to incidents and emergencies
  • Manage interactions with vagrants and intoxicated persons professionally
  • Use radios, codes, and site communication systems effectively
  • Communicate clearly with staff, visitors, and emergency services
  • Prepare accurate incident reports and logs
  • Observe and document events with strong attention to detail
  • Follow company policies and site-specific procedures
  • Maintain a professional security presence and customer service approach


Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • Valid British Columbia Basic Security Training (BST)

  • Minimum 1 year of security experience
    (required)

  • OFA Level 1
    (asset)
  • Strong verbal conflict de-escalation skills
  • Proficient in English (verbal and written)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and security-related technology
  • Physically capable of standing and patrolling for long periods
  • Strong observation, reporting, and communication skills
  • Professional, disciplined, honest, and ethical approach
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team
  • Ability to follow procedures and established routines
  • Flexible availability
