AFA / OFA3 Security Patroller for Vancouver Convention Centre

Iconic Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) is currently seeking motivated, caring and customer-service oriented Advanced First Aid (AFA / OFA3) certified individuals to join our team permanently.

ROTATION:

– Friday to Sunday, 2300 to 0715 hours

– Potentially other morning (0700 – 1515 hours) and afternoon (1500 – 2315 hours) rotations

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor First Aid calls and assess treatment as required
• Maintain First Aid supplies including emergency kits, oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, and first aid supplies
• Monitor OFA email and prepare relevant paperwork as required
• Conduct regular foot patrols of public, event, back-of-house, and exterior areas.
• Monitor & report security, safety, access control, hazards, and suspicious activity.
• Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, emergencies, and security concerns.
• Identify and report Facility damage
• Provide professional assistance and customer service to guests, clients, and VCC staff.
• Provide access and escort for clients, suppliers and contractors through Facility spaces as required
• Provide building lockdown and crowd control during facility related protests as required
• Monitoring for goods left unattended
• Unlock and lock retail washrooms per schedule
• Complete accurate patrol logs, incident reports, First Aid reports and other documentation.
• Act as floor warden during emergency situations; support evacuations, crowd management, and other security operations as directed.
• Communicate effectively with Supervisors, the Operations Centre, VCC personnel, and emergency services.

COMPETENCIES:

• Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions and provide clear directions
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work effectively in a team environment
• Able to walk for long periods of time
• Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain a friendly, professional and courteous demeanor

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid BC Security License
• Advanced First Aid (AFA) or OFA3 Certification
• Computer skills required: Word, Excel and email
• Knowledge of a two-way radio is an asset

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
