About the Role:
We are seeking a professional Tactical Security Guard to protect customers, staff, and property at our downtown Vancouver retail store. This role requires vigilance, strong de-escalation skills, and the ability to respond effectively to high-risk situations while operating strictly within Canadian and BC laws.
Responsibilities
- Provide a strong security presence to deter theft, aggressive behavior, and other potential risks.
- Maintain observation of customers, staff, and the store environment, identifying and reporting risks.
- Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, and suspicious activities.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques to calm situations and reduce risks before they escalate.
- Monitor entrances, exits, and conduct patrols of high-risk areas.
- Assist in emergencies by following safety procedures and evacuation protocols.
- Regulate customer flow during peak hours, special events, or seasonal surges.
- Support store management with opening and closing procedures, including remaining on-site until all customers have exited.
- Prepare and submit Daily Activity Reports and Incident Reports in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement and first responders during emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Valid BC Security Worker License.
- 2+ years of tactical or high-risk security experience (retail or public-facing preferred).
- Strong observational, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Physically fit and able to patrol, stand, and respond to emergencies.
- Criminal background check required.
- Trained in de-escalation, OFA 1
- Experience with report writing and incident documentation.
- Experience in loss prevention.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, 40 hours/week, mornings availability (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM), weekends.
- Downtown Vancouver retail environment with high-risk interactions.
