Job Description

Shift Requirement: This is a part-time position with a bi-weekly rotating schedule. The expected working hours average 15-20 hours per week, with most shifts occurring during the afternoon (subject to change based on client needs).

The incumbent’s schedule will be:

Week 1: Wednesday 14:00 – 19:00 | Thursday 12:00 – 17:00 | Friday 15:00 – 20:00 | Saturday 15:00 – 20:00 and Sunday 15:00 – 20:00

AND

Week 2: Tuesday 11:00 – 16:00| Thursday 15:00 – 20:00 | Friday 15:00 – 20:00 and Saturday 15:00 – 20:00

(15-20 Hours per Week)

Shifts repeat every two weeks in this pattern. Candidates unable to provide these dates will not be considered unless accommodation is required.

The incumbent will need to be comfortable working independently and professionally dealing with confrontational persons within a grocery store (retail setting). Tactical experience is preferred.

Role Overview

Position: Loss Prevention Guard
Location: Scarborough, ON
Hours & Shift Schedule: This position requires FULL DAY availability on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This is a bi-weekly rotating schedule. The expected working hours average 20 hours per week, subject to change based on client needs.

Job duties as a Loss Prevention Guard:

Surveillance & Monitoring: CCTV is used to protect facilities and property.
Theft Prevention: Actively monitor and approach individuals suspected of theft or fraud while blending seamlessly into the environment.
Incident Reporting: Prepare detailed, accurate reports documenting thefts and apprehensions.
Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and intervene professionally when necessary.
Emergency Response: Coordinate with law enforcement as required.
Trespass Management: Escort unauthorized individuals from client premises.

Qualifications & Skills

License: Valid Ontario Security Guard License (required)
Certification: Valid First Aid and Level "C" CPR certification from a WSIB-approved provider (required)
Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle (essential)
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with detaining and arresting shoplifters and working with a retail setting as a Loss Prevention guard is required
Expertise: Strong knowledge of the five steps to effective detainment and arrest
Skills: Excellent observation, communication (spoken, written, and electronic), and safety awareness
Language: Proficiency in verbal and written English is required
