Position Details

Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Employer Partner: Paladin Security
Hours: Continental 12-hour Rotation (0700–1900 / 1900–0700)
Pay Rate: $18.40/hr – $23.00/hr
Overtime Eligibility: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and site security.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems; report suspicious activity immediately.
• Monitor and control entry points, ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
• Respond quickly to emergencies (medical emergencies, fire alarms, security threats) and support hospital staff during crises or evacuations.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff; provide directions and promote adherence to hospital policies.
• De-escalate tense situations while maintaining professionalism and calm communication.
• Accurately document daily activities, incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement to ensure coordinated security efforts.
• Enforce hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols.
• Address any violations in alignment with hospital safety standards.

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB-approved provider
• Two doses of COVID-19 vaccination
• Proof of updated immunization records (MMR, Varicella, and two-step TB skin test)
• Valid G-Class Driver’s License (not required for all positions)
• Willingness to complete N95 mask fit testing during training
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
• Previous security, law enforcement, or related experience preferred
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants without UOF/MOAB may complete Paladin’s certification program before onboarding
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

Please Note:
UOF/MOAB certification is a pre-employment requirement. While the certification period is unpaid, Paladin covers all associated costs with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
