Positions: Casual/FT

Schedule: Overnights

Requirements:

• 1 year of experience A MUST
• Valid Ontario Security License
• Valid Full G Driver’s License with clear abstract

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure property Loss Prevention, observe and report suspicious and suspicious activity
• Perform fire watch duties as required
• Provide basic access Control & wayfinding as required
• Interior/Exterior patrol duties, such as circulating throughout public areas to maintain an orderly atmosphere by identifying and deterring illegal or prohibited activities.
• Responding to security related incidents on site including the application of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques.
• Responsible for order maintenance including controlling or restoring order to an unruly crowd.
• Responding to medical emergency calls and providing first aid.
• Screening of packages, bags, and visitors for dangerous/prohibited items where applicable.
• Escorting Staff and Visitors/Contractors as required through secure areas or to/from parking areas.
• Application of the Trespass to Property Act and Corporate Trespass to Property Procedures as directed by the City of Ottawa.
• Assisting with Building Emergency and Evacuation Procedures
• Mobile Patrol Duties
• Assisting patients in care homes, members of marginalized communities, and residents in shelters and respites.
• De-escalating crisis situations and handling emergencies
• Work closely with Local Law with Local Enforcement and Emergency Services
• Interacting with the public and customer service approach to security
• Completing incident reports and required documentation for all incidents
• Respond to emergencies in a quick and efficient manner
• Performing other administrative tasks as required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE – What you will bring?

• Valid Ontario Security License
• Minimum 1 years of security experience
• Ability to standing/walking for long periods of time
• Ability to perform patrols by foot and respond to situations in a reasonable timeframe
• Ability to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance
• Excellent analytical and observational skills
• Ability to orient self/learn about the client site and services provided
• Comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and various related Acts, codes and legislation including the Criminal Code, the Trespass to Property Act, the Fire Code and WHMIS
• Ability to react to and resolve emergency and crisis situations in a proper manner
• Demonstrated ability in preparing and maintaining clear, concise, and legible security reports and detailed records
• Highly developed interpersonal and customer-service skills, including conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision making, situational assessment and communication skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English
• Must pass a vulnerable sector background check.
