Pay Rate: $27/hour
Site: Ciena Corporation (5050 Innovation Dr)
Schedule: Thu 1700-2100 and Fri 0500-1700hrs
Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement

Located in the Kanata North technology park in Ottawa, Ciena Corporation operates its largest global research and development facility. Serving as a Global Centre of Excellence, this location hosts thousands of R&D specialists and stands as one of Canada’s premier telecommunications innovation hubs.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Dispatch and coordinate responses for alarms and on-site occurrences.

• Perform routine patrols to maintain site security and safety.

• Document shift details and write clear, comprehensive reports.

• Coordinate scheduling updates and manage shift book-offs.

• Follow emergency response procedures for critical situations such as fires, break-ins, or bomb threats, escalating to key stakeholders when required.

• Liaise effectively with client staff, visitors, management, and local emergency services.

• Provide briefings to management, supervisors, and incoming shift personnel.

• Perform other security duties as assigned.

Must Haves

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License.

• Valid WSIB-approved Level C First Aid Certificate.

• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

• Above-average written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel).

• Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a dynamic environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with TrackTik software.

• Fluency in French (verbal and written).
