POSITION SUMMARY:

The Overnight Security Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for hotel guests, associates, and visitors during overnight hours. This role performs routine patrols, monitors surveillance systems, and responds to incidents or emergencies in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.

In addition to core security responsibilities, the Overnight Security Associate supports overnight hotel operations by assisting with valet services and responding to basic guest service and housekeeping requests. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, strong situational awareness, and a commitment to Marriott’s service standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Patrol all areas of the property including guest floors, public spaces, back-of-house areas, parking facilities, and perimeter areas to ensure safety and security.
• Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, guest concerns, and disturbances as directed by the night audit team members.
• Prepare accurate and detailed incident reports, security logs, and shift documentation.
• Ensure all entrances, exits, and restricted areas are properly monitored and secured as a part of the walk arounds during the shift.
• Provide assistance to guests and associates while maintaining a visible and professional security presence.
• Provide valet parking services as a part of service operations, including safely parking and retrieving guest vehicles when required.
• Performs basic maintenance in guest room and public area as needed.
• Performs basic housekeeping work such as lobby mopping and public area cleaning.
• Support overnight operations by fulfilling basic housekeeping or guest service requests, including delivering towels, linens, or amenities.
• Follow all hotel safety, emergency, and security procedures and collaborate with emergency services when necessary.
• Maintain a professional and service-focused approach aligned with Marriott’s hospitality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Alberta Security Services Worker Licence (required)
• ProServe Certification (required)
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract (required)
• Previous security or hospitality experience preferred
• Strong observation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to remain alert and responsive during overnight shifts
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities
• Ability to stand, walk, and conduct patrols for extended periods
