The Southern Alberta Division supports clients in Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Suffield.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Response Officer for the Enmax site—responsible for a combination of mobile patrols, foot patrols, and responding to security alarms dispatched by the Enmax Monitoring Office.

Position Summary

The Response Officer – Enmax Site plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of Enmax facilities. This position combines mobile patrol responsibilities with regular foot patrols and immediate response to alarms and incidents reported by the Enmax Monitoring Office. The ideal candidate is observant, reliable, calm under pressure, and capable of maintaining professionalism in a high‑responsibility environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled mobile patrols across Enmax properties
  • Perform foot patrols of buildings, stations, substations, and secured areas
  • Respond immediately to alarms and incidents communicated by the Enmax Monitoring Office
  • Verify alarm conditions, assess security risks, and report findings
  • Maintain high‑quality documentation, including detailed incident reports and patrol logs
  • Follow all Enmax and Commissionaires security procedures, access protocols, and safety guidelines
  • Perform wellness checks on staff and maintain a visible, professional presence on-site
  • Support investigations by gathering information and completing proper documentation
  • Provide customer service to employees, contractors, and authorized visitors
  • Adhere to all traffic regulations and safe-driving protocols while operating security vehicles
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by site leadership or Commissionaires management

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Valid Alberta Security License
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • Valid Class 5 (Non‑GDL) driver’s license
  • Clean driver’s abstract (3-5 years)
  • Ability to pass Commissionaires road test
  • Strong English communication skills—verbal, written, and reading
  • Strong observation and problem‑solving abilities
  • Professional and calm presence when responding to alarms or emergencies
  • Ability to walk, stand, drive, and conduct foot patrols for extended periods
  • Competence using computers, mobile devices, and security technology
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Assets:
    • Former RCMP or Military experience
    • Military family background
    • Law Enforcement-related education or experience

Shift Information

  • 12‑hour shifts 1800 – 0600
  • Rotating schedule – 4 on 3 off / 3 on 4 off, Thursday to Saturday with every second Wednesday.

  • Combination of driving, walking, and foot patrols
  • Indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather
  • Exposure to physically demanding activities such as stair climbing
  • High‑responsibility environment with frequent alarm responses
