SECURITY PROFESSIONAL / SECURITY AGENT

Barry Enterprises Protection & Security ServicesLocation: Calgary, AlbertaSchedule: Full time hours with shifts based on assignment

Barry Enterprises Protection & Security Services is growing. We are seeking dependable, professional Security Agents who take pride in their appearance, stay alert, and take ownership of their assigned post.

Our agents represent our company and our clients every time they put on the uniform. We expect punctuality, sound judgment, respectful communication, and consistent performance.

This is an active security role. You must be comfortable maintaining a visible presence, engaging with the public, conducting patrols, enforcing site rules, and responding appropriately when an incident occurs.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Arrive on time, in full uniform, properly equipped, and ready to assume your post.
  • Learn and follow site post orders, client instructions, and company procedures.
  • Conduct assigned patrols and identify safety hazards, suspicious activity, unauthorized access, and property concerns.
  • Control access and enforce site rules professionally and consistently.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, and requests for assistance.
  • Use clear communication and de escalation techniques to manage difficult situations.
  • Contact emergency services when required and promptly notify your supervisor of serious incidents.
  • Act within your training, lawful authority, and company procedures.
  • Complete accurate activity logs and incident reports, with all shift reports submitted within 30 minutes of shift completion.
  • Maintain communication with the operations team and provide a proper handover to incoming personnel.
  • Protect confidential client, company, and incident information.
  • Treat clients, coworkers, and members of the public with professionalism and respect.

WHAT WE EXPECT

Reliability: Attend your scheduled shifts and notify operations promptly if an issue could affect your attendance.

Professional presentation: Maintain a clean uniform, appropriate grooming, and the equipment required for your assignment.

Attention to duty: Stay alert, complete your patrols, and avoid unauthorized phone use or other distractions.

Accountability: Follow instructions, accept coaching, report concerns honestly, and complete your responsibilities without repeated reminders.

Good judgment: Remain calm under pressure, recognize when assistance is needed, and follow the established chain of command.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Alberta Security Services Licence.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Good observation skills and the ability to write clear, factual reports.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol throughout the assigned shift.
  • Dependable transportation to and from assigned sites.
  • Availability for full time hours, including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to complete required training and learn the duties of each assigned site.

A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are required for mobile patrol or driving assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous security, mobile patrol, customer service, or incident response experience.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • De escalation, defensive tactics, or tactical handcuffing training.

Specialized assignments, including loss prevention, require appropriate training and authorization.
