Position: Full-Time Security Officer – Lobby/Access Control

Compensation

• Base Pay: $18.87 per hour
• Supplemental Pay: $7.95 per hour
• Combined Compensation: $26.82 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a professional, reliable, and alert Security Officer for a charter school located in Brooklyn, NY.

This is a single-officer lobby post primarily responsible for access control and maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment for students, staff, visitors, and authorized personnel.

The Security Officer will be stationed primarily at the lobby security desk and will serve as a visible security presence and the first point of contact for individuals entering the facility.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional security presence at the lobby desk.
• Monitor and control access into the school.
• Verify visitors and ensure proper visitor procedures are followed.
• Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the facility.
• Observe individuals entering and exiting the building.
• Maintain required visitor and security logs.
• Monitor the lobby and immediate entrance area for suspicious activity or safety concerns.
• Communicate professionally with school administrators, staff, students, parents, visitors, and vendors.
• Immediately report security incidents, emergencies, or unusual activity.
• Follow established school security procedures and post orders.
• Contact supervisors, school administration, or emergency services when appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment when dealing with school-related matters.
• Respond to any security emergencies and assist school staff as need

Qualifications

Applicants should:

• Possess a valid New York State Security Guard Registration Card.
• Be dependable and punctual.
• Have strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Be capable of maintaining a professional demeanor in a school environment.
• Be comfortable performing access-control duties and interacting with the public.
• Have the ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the assigned shift.
• Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

Prior school security guard experience and, access-control is mandatory.

Schedule

Monday through Friday
7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

This position provides a consistent weekday schedule in a professional school environment.

Pay

$18.87/hour base pay + $7.95/hour supplemental pay = starting pay of $26.82/hour.
