Unarmed Security Officer – National City (Homeless Shelter) – $23/hr
The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and regulatory compliance of assigned locations, staff, clients, and products. This role can include monitoring entrances and exits, conducting patrols, deterring theft or unauthorized access, and responding to incidents in accordance with company policy and applicable municipal and state laws. Officers must maintain a high standard of professionalism, discretion, and customer service.

Provide a visible, unarmed deterrent at entrances and other designated areas.

Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized individuals are permitted entry.

Conduct interior and exterior patrols of the premises, including product storage areas, employee entrances, and customer waiting areas.

Observe and report suspicious activity, security threats, or non-compliance with company or state regulations.

Prevent and respond to incidents involving theft, trespassing, loitering, or disorderly conduct.

Monitor security cameras, alarms, and access control systems as assigned.

Conduct bag checks, ID verification, or screening as required by company policy.

Respond to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, or threats to safety; contact law enforcement or EMS as required.

Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift hand-off notes.

Enforce assigned regulations, safety policies, and company code of conduct with professionalism and consistency.

Minimum 21 years of age (as required by client regulatory requirements).

Valid BSIS Guard Card (California or equivalent in other states).

High school diploma or GED required; additional training or military/law enforcement experience preferred.

Strong observational skills, situational awareness, and ability to remain calm under pressure.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to walk/stand for extended periods and work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to adhere to state compliance standards and confidentiality protocols.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods throughout the shift.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.

Manual dexterity for operating radios and other assigned equipment.

Unarmed officers work in a retail or commercial setting, interacting with employees, vendors, and verified clients. Officers must remain neutral, nonjudgmental, and respectful while supporting both safety and customer experience.
