Position Title: Security Guard
Department: Security
Reports To: Security Supervisor / Manager
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time / Contract

Position Summary

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, visitors, and property. This role involves monitoring premises, enforcing rules, responding to incidents, and providing a visible security presence to deter unlawful or unsafe behavior.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor entrances, exits, and general premises to prevent unauthorized access and ensure safety.
  • Conduct routine patrols (foot or vehicle) of buildings and surrounding areas.
  • Observe and report suspicious activities, security violations, or safety hazards.
  • Respond to alarms, emergencies, and incidents according to company policies.
  • Assist with crowd control during events or peak business hours.
  • Provide customer assistance, directions, and support as needed.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate logs and prepare incident reports.
  • Enforce access control procedures, including checking IDs, visitor passes, and employee badges.
  • Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, and other security equipment.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement, emergency services, and management when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies.
  • Perform inspections of doors, windows, gates, and equipment for proper operation and security.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Security Guard License or certification (as required by local law).
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or customer service is an advantage.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations.
  • Physically fit and able to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of security systems and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to write clear and accurate reports.

Working Conditions

  • Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work may involve indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Exposure to all weather conditions depending on location.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs when necessary.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Tall and stocky

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.21-£13.41 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week

  • SIA badge (required)

Work Location: In person
