Dive Safety Officer (Full-Time)

Job Description

What you get to do:

  • Ensures safe dive operations and compliance with all OSHA requirements.
  • Runs training classes and certification courses, as applicable to dive operations and safety certifications.
  • Adheres to all established safety procedures and environmental regulations throughout the park
  • Enthusiastically represents SeaWorld by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.
  • Assists with diver testing and correct dive techniques as necessary.
  • Assists with Orca and Pilot Whale EABD swim testing and training.
  • Consults with department dive teams on unique dive operations and water rescue scenarios.
  • Assists with equipment evaluations and maintenance audits.
  • Conducts audit dives/drills to ensure dive practices are compliant.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate dive logs and records.
  • Maintains and repairs dive equipment as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with SEA, CAL and FED OSHA Diving regulations.
  • Ensures general cleanliness of underwater facilities throughout the park.
  • Ensures excellent customer service by responding to internal customer requirements, expectations, and needs.
  • Other duties as assigned

What it takes to succeed:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A current open water SCUBA instructor from a nationally or internationally recognized agency.
  • Minimum 2 years of diving experience and 1 year experience as a diving instructor
  • A current CPR instructor.
  • A valid California driver's license; visiting students and military must have valid driver's license from state of residency and able to provide a copy of the DMV report. Be able to obtain a SeaWorld driver's license.
  • Maintain credentials to serve as a Dive Training Instructor.
  • Familiar with Cal/Fed OSHA diving regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Able to regularly use hands to fingers, reach with hands and arms, handle, feel, talk, and hear.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast paced team environment.
  • Able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural
  • Backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
  • Able to regular exposure to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions.

Compensation:

  • 23.00 per hour
