Responsibilities


As a Lead Security Officer you will provide physical and personal security and safety measures for members, patients, staff, and visitors. Protect staff and property from theft or damage, and safeguard individuals from hazards or interference, including potential workplace violence. Key responsibilities include responding to emergency situations at the healthcare facility. Conduct regular tours to identify irregularities and inspect protection devices and fire control equipment. Maintain order and enforce regulations related to personnel, visitors, and premises. Provide leadership to Security Officers during shifts and perform additional duties of higher responsibility as defined by the Dignity Health Security Department. This position requires a thorough understanding and active participation in fulfilling Dignity Health's Mission. Employees are expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with Dignity Health's Core Values and humankindness, and to support Dignity Health's strategic plans and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Maintains a comprehensive inspection test and maintenance program for all security physical and electronic measures. Follows up on pending security issues.
  • Implements requirements of the Security Management Plan. Manages and coordinates responses to critical incidents. Monitors and documents actual and potential security breaches.
  • Monitors existing security systems and technologies for possible security leaks or fraud.
  • Conducts ongoing security orientation and training of assigned staff and may serve as Field Training Guard.
  • Conducts routine safety patrols of assigned areas reporting safety and security issues within those areas.
  • Conducts access control and provides escorts for visitors to secure areas.
  • Responds to calls for Security presence within the Emergency Department and assists staff as requested.

Dignity Health now offers an Education Benefit program for benefit-eligible employees after 180 days. This program provides debt relief and student loan assistance to help you achieve your goals. Full-time employees can receive up to $18,000 over five years, while part-time employees can receive up to $9,000.


Qualifications


Minimum:

  • Six (6) months experience as a Security Officer involving extensive public contact.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State Drivers License with satisfactory DMV report upon hire and annually

Preferred:
  • One (1) year experience as a security officer involving extensive public contact.
  • Completion of college level education courses in Criminal Justice
  • International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment and IAHSS Advanced course within six months of employment

Pay Range
$18.83 – $25.89 /hour
