About the Position
As the Security Officer, you will provide unarmed specialized security services and security screening. Your job will be to protect County employees, visitors, facilities, and property. In this position, you will interact with a variety of personalities, with the expectation that we provide exceptional customer service and treat everyone with the highest level of respect and courtesy.This position will be required to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.

We Require
- Two (2) years of unarmed security-related experience within a criminal justice system, security industry, corrections, law enforcement, or military police environment
- High school diploma or GED

Must possess or have the ability to obtain, by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver’s license

Ability to obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within sixty (60) days of employment

- Post-secondary education in Security Management or related field
- Three (3) years of advanced unarmed security-related experience within a criminal justice system, security industry, corrections, law enforcement, or military police environment
- Certification from DPS or other licensed agencies in unarmed guard services or use of other non-lethal weaponry
Job Contributions
- Provide screening at various County facilities via metal detectors, x-rays, and hand wand screening to detect concealed weapons and prohibited items
- Inspect identification badges to control employee bypass entrances and prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas
- Monitor CCTV camera systems, alarms, and emergency fire systems
- Perform interior and exterior foot patrols of designated areas
- Implements emergency procedures when appropriate or as directed
- Handle security incidents with minimal disruption to the organization
- Provide security presence regarding employee relations matters and contentious public relations situations
- Make appropriate referrals to the Security Services Supervisor for possible administrative investigations pertaining to workplace violence or employee relations matters
- Provide surveillance data, reports, and other evidence to support internal investigations as requested
- Investigate and document disturbances and incidents; take charge in potentially threatening situations, which may require the use of physical restraints to maintain order and safety
- Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to deter, detect, delay, and interdict unauthorized activity and remove unauthorized persons from County property when necessary
- Provide oral reports and prepare written documentation to the Security Services Supervisor regarding shift activity and special issues
- Provide first responder first aid, CPR, and AED in medical emergencies
Working Conditions
- Work in an unarmed capacity, including wearing a duty belt, body armor, or other department-required or issued equipment as authorized
- Work schedules may require evening and weekend shifts for executive protection and rotational assignments when directing the security command center operations. Overtime may be required.
- Must be physically able to, under all weather and lighting conditions, run for short periods of time, walk continuously for one hour, climb stairs, operate vehicles, operate mechanical equipment, stand and remain standing for periods of up to three (3) hours without sitting, sit for extended periods, utilize any Department issued or approved lethal or non-lethal weaponry (including the physical restraint of unauthorized or threatening persons when needed) and lift/carry 50 pounds
- Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards and noise and vibration
- Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
